Pure abilities covid-19 statement

Last Updated: January 06, 2022

With Governor Holcomb's mask mandate lifted on April 6th, 2021, Pure Abilities will continue to follow these recommendations with our clients in mind. This being said, if our therapists feel more comfortable wearing a mask or if you, the client, requests it, please continue to do so. Lastly, if the therapist and yourself are fully vaccinated you will not need to wear a mask in our office spaces, unless otherwise directed to do so. Our recreational therapists, behavioral consultants, and music therapists will be contacting their consumers to update them on our transition of the CDC and Indiana Department of Health policies. Please contact your Recreational Therapist, Behavior Consultant, or music therapist for further updates and for TeleHealth/Virtual Sessions. Please review our Office & Community Work Policies for more details on our precautions/restrictions and continued effort to combat COVID-19.

With the recent and continuous updates from the CDC, WHO, Indiana Department of Health and all other Medicaid governing bodies pertaining to the Corona virus (COVID-19), we would like to take the time to inform you of the precautionary measures we at Pure Abilities LLC are taking during recreational/music therapy or behavioral consulting sessions and the steps you can take to aid in preventing the risk of transmission to clients and therapists.

Pure Abilities LLC has informed all of its recreational therapists, behavioral consultants, and music therapists and will continue to update and monitor all incoming health information as we receive it. We have sent out a company memo regarding COVID-19 signs & symptoms as well as practicing universal precautions to prevent transmission while continuing to serve our consumers.

Due to the nature of the situation, we have re-evaluated best practices, health screenings, and universal precautions. Below you will find the precautions we are requiring our recreational therapists to take in response to the outbreak.

  • Encourage in-home / in-facility sessions for high-risk consumers

  • If your client is diagnosed or directly exposed to COVID-19 your sessions will need to be canceled for 10 days or have proof of a negative test, and can utilize TeleHealth for your sessions.

    • Stay home and away from other people for at least 5 days (day 0 through day 5) after your last contact with a person who has COVID-19Washing hands between sessions

    • If you develop symptoms, get tested immediately and isolate until you receive your test results. If you test positive, follow isolation recommendations.

    • If you do not develop symptoms, get tested at least 5 days after you last had close contact with someone with COVID-19.

  • Coughing/sneezing into elbows, not hands

  • Properly disposing of waste (tissue, etc)

  • Not shaking hands or hugging consumers

  • Screening ourselves and our consumers for symptoms that may include but are not limited to: sneezing, sore throat, coughing, and fever.

  • Practice social distancing (6ft or more)

  • Wearing masks when in the community of more than 10 people.

  • Our employees, consultants, and therapists will wear masks when visiting our office location.

In order to best protect our clients and team, we ask that you please notify your Recreational Therapist, Behavior Consultant, and/or Music Therapist if you believe you or individual close to you may be displaying symptoms or feel ill.

As a reminder, the Indiana Department of Health has considered Pure Abilities an "essential business" as we are a healthcare provider. Therefore, our recreational therapists, behavior management, and music therapist services can continue sessions.

Recently, Medicaid has issued a new policy allowing recreational therapists and music therapists to continue sessions virtually via Telecommunication services. If you are interested in these services, please speak to your recreational therapist and please review, sign, and return the following TeleHealth Consent Form.

The TeleCommunication service we are recommending our recreational and music therapists use for these sessions is Doxy.me - this is a HIPAA compliant format. https://doxy.me/
